Checkmate was founded on 29 October 1993 by Gurdeep Singh Arora, with a small deployment in Pune and a straightforward proposition: security personnel who are trained before they arrive, and a contractor who handles their statutory obligations properly.

Today we deploy more than 12,000 security personnel across 800+ client sites in 16 states and union territories, and monitor more than 11,000 sites from our command centre.

What has kept us in Pune is the same thing that keeps clients with us. Our management is reachable. Our relationships with labour authorities and the Maharashtra State Guard Board are three decades deep. And when something goes wrong at two in the morning, the person who can authorise a decision is a phone call away, not an escalation ticket in another city.

We are not the largest security company in India, and we do not compete on being the cheapest. What we offer is proximity, statutory depth, and the fact that a contract with us does not become a compliance problem for your team.

How we approach people

Our management team includes senior officers from the armed forces. Security advisors and our internal security department support field operations, investigations and police liaison.

Every person we deploy is verified before deployment and trained at our own facility, accredited by the Government of Maharashtra. Refresher training runs through the year, two to three sessions a month, so that standing instructions keep pace with what clients actually need.
